Somalia Hosts First Somalia-China Business Networking Conference in Mogadishu

Mogadishu-Somalia: The Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry hosted the first-ever Somalia-China Business Networking Conference in Mogadishu, bringing together government officials, business leaders, and investors from Somalia and China.

The conference was officially opened by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, and focused on strengthening economic ties and expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Held under the theme “Building Partnerships and Creating Opportunities,” the conference provided a platform to showcase Somalia’s growing investment opportunities and explore ways to deepen commercial relations between Somali and Chinese businesses.

A key outcome of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the China Chamber of Commerce responsible for Africa.

The agreement is expected to strengthen cooperation and establish more direct connections between businesses and companies from Somalia and China, creating opportunities for increased trade, investment, and private-sector partnerships.

The conference also provided an opportunity for Somali and Chinese stakeholders to exchange perspectives on potential areas of economic cooperation and explore opportunities for expanding bilateral business relations.

The Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Somali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Yasin M. Cibaar, Somalia’s Ambassador to China, H.E. Hodan Osman Abdi, the ministers who participated in the conference, and all government officials and stakeholders who contributed to the successful organization of the event.

The conference marks an important step toward strengthening Somalia-China economic relations, promoting investment, and creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
