Somali Deputy Minister of Finance Chairs Meeting to Strengthen Revenue Generation and Tax Collection

Mogadishu (LM) The Deputy Minister of Finance for the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdiqafar Elmi Hange, convened a significant meeting today aimed at enhancing revenue generation and accelerating tax collection efforts, focusing on three key areas: Value Added Tax (VAT), Road Tax, and Rental Tax.
The meeting saw the participation of the Director of Tax Protection, the Attorney General, the Director General of Revenue, and several other officials.
Following an in-depth discussion that included investigation, evaluation, and analysis, attendees reached a consensus on the need for decisive action against individuals engaged in tax evasion and fraud. The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Tax Protection Agency and the Attorney General’s office, agreed to pursue legal measures against anyone violating revenue regulations, ensuring that offenses related to tax refusal or evasion will be prosecuted.
This initiative proves the government’s commitment to improving fiscal integrity and accountability, aiming to bolster the national economy through effective tax policies.
