Pakistan Offers to Host US–Iran Talks Amid Rising Tensions

Pakistan has expressed its willingness to host potential talks between the United States and Iran in a bid to find a negotiated resolution to ongoing tensions, according to the country’s foreign ministry.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, foreign ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Islamabad remains open to facilitating dialogue if both sides agree.

“If the parties desire, Islamabad is always willing to host talks,” Andrabi said, adding that Pakistan has consistently supported diplomacy to promote regional peace and stability.

The remarks come a day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a five-day pause on a threatened strike against Iranian power facilities, stating that Washington and Tehran were engaged in “very good” negotiations.

However, Iran has denied that any negotiations are currently underway with the United States.

Despite the denial, multiple media reports in the U.S. and Israel suggest that countries including Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkiye have been acting as intermediaries, relaying messages between Tehran and Washington in recent days.

Some reports have also indicated that potential talks could take place in Islamabad soon, although neither side has officially confirmed such a meeting.
