IGAD Welcomes Ambassador Moussa Djama Ali as New Special Envoy to South Sudan

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has announced the appointment of Ambassador Moussa Djama Ali as the new Special Envoy to South Sudan. This decision reaffirms IGAD’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to support peace and stability in the region.
The announcement was made during a meeting held at IGAD’s offices in Addis Ababa, led by Executive Secretary H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu. During the meeting, the Secretariat also took the opportunity to honor Ambassador Ismail Wais for his distinguished service in the role.
Ambassador Wais has been recognized for his steadfast leadership in advancing the South Sudan Revitalization Peace Process and the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS). IGAD expressed its deep appreciation for his commitment and valuable contributions throughout his tenure.
Looking ahead, the organization is optimistic about continued progress under the stewardship of Ambassador Moussa Djama Ali. IGAD reiterates its unwavering commitment to accompany the Government and people of South Sudan on their journey toward achieving lasting peace, stability, and national reconciliation.
