MP Abdirahman Abdi Shakur Criticizes President Hassan Sheikh’s Handling of Foreign Policy

Mogadishu (LM) The Member of Parliament and Wadajir Party Leader, Mr. Abdirahman Abdi Shakur, criticized President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for what he described as the humiliation of Somalia’s ambassadors and the overall instability of the country’s foreign policy.
“President Hassan Sheikh humiliates Somalia’s ambassadors to the world, and the country’s foreign policy in general is not stable and predictable,” Shakur asserted during an interview with RTN TV. His remarks come amid growing concerns regarding Somalia’s diplomatic relations and the effectiveness of its representatives abroad.
Shakur emphasized that a coherent foreign policy is crucial for Somalia’s international standing and development. “Our ambassadors are the face of Somalia; they must be treated with respect and given the support they need to represent our nation effectively,” he stated.
The MP’s comments reflect a broader sentiment among some politicians and analysts who believe that recent diplomatic missteps have undermined Somalia’s credibility on the global stage. There are fears that inconsistent policies could jeopardize crucial partnerships and aid agreements.
As the debate over foreign policy continues, Shakur urged the government to prioritize diplomatic stability and engage constructively with international partners. “We must restore confidence in our foreign relations to ensure a prosperous future for our country.
“The president should respect the ambassadors representing us around the world. What do other governments think if the president humiliates his ambassadors? Oh, my brother, please stop humiliating our ambassadors,” he concluded.
The political landscape in Somalia remains tense, with observers closely monitoring the administration’s handling of both domestic and international affairs.
