Fifth Business Innovation Summit Kicks off in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Behi Iman Ige, officially inaugurated the fifth Business Innovation Summit today in Mogadishu. This significant event aims to address crucial areas for economic growth and development in the country.

The summit focuses on several key themes, including improving infrastructure, fostering business innovation, increasing revenue, encouraging small businesses, and promoting entrepreneurship among Somali women. These areas are essential for building a robust and sustainable economy.

In his opening remarks, Minister Cige emphasized the importance of innovation in driving economic progress. “We must create an environment that supports our entrepreneurs and empowers them to succeed,” he stated.

The event also brought together several notable figures, including the Minister of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development, Mr. C/raxmaan Beene Beene; the Minister of Education, Mr. Faarax Sheekh C/qaadir; and the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mr. Daahir Shire. Additionally, the Chairman of the National Economic Council, Mr. Xasan Aadan Hoosow, along with members of both houses of Parliament, participated in the summit.

The collaborative efforts highlighted during the summit are expected to lead to actionable strategies that will enhance the business landscape in Somalia. By focusing on infrastructure and innovation, the government aims to create a more conducive environment for small businesses and women entrepreneurs, ultimately fostering economic resilience.
