Somali President Congratulates Somali Workers on Labor Day

Mogadishu (LM)-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has extended heartfelt congratulations to all Somali workers and their families on the occasion of Labor Day. In his address, the President commended the invaluable contributions of Somali workers to the country’s development, state-building, and national defense.
President Mohamud emphasized that Somali workers deserve special recognition, stating, “They are the backbone of the development of our society.” He highlighted the recent approval of the updated Labor Code as a crucial step toward enhancing the protection of workers’ rights in Somalia.
The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing the Decent Work Agenda, which aims to reduce unemployment and strengthen the relationships between workers and employers.
“I congratulate the great Somali workers on the occasion of International Workers’ Day on May 1,” he said. “Somali workers are characterized by their hard work, efficiency, and resilience, and I commend them for their important role in the struggle to rebuild the state and develop the country.”
In closing, President Mohamud urged all government and private institutions to uphold the rights of workers and promote respect and fairness in the workplace. He also offered prayers for the souls of parents and young Somalis who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.
