The Cabinet of Somalia Approves 2026 Budget and Key Agreements

Mogadishu (LM) The Cabinet of the Federal Republic of Somalia convened for its weekly meeting and successfully passed the 2026 Budget Appropriation Act with a majority vote.

In addition to the budget, the Council approved a memorandum of understanding between the Governments of Somalia and Uganda, focusing on cooperation in migration. Another memorandum of understanding was ratified between Somalia and Qatar, aimed at enhancing cooperation in security matters and combating crime.

The meeting, chaired by His Excellency Hamsa Abdi Barre, the Prime Minister, also included discussions on the country’s security and defense. The Council commended the achievements of the armed forces in their ongoing fight against terrorism, acknowledging their efforts to ensure the safety and stability of the nation.

As Somalia continues to solve its challenges, these strategic agreements and budgetary measures are seen as vital steps towards fostering cooperation and enhancing national security.
