Prime Minister Urges Investment in Domestic Agriculture for Economic Growth

Mogadishu (LM) The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hamsa Abdi Barre, emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting domestic production as a cornerstone for the country’s economic development and achieving food self-sufficiency.
Speaking at the opening of the National Conference on Food and Agriculture Investment, Prime Minister Barre highlighted the significant challenges currently facing Somalia’s agricultural sector. “We must encourage our farmers and entrepreneurs to invest in agriculture,” he stated. “By doing so, we can reduce our reliance on imported goods and foster a self-sufficient economy.”
The conference brought together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss strategies for revitalizing agriculture in Somalia. Prime Minister Barre urged Somali businessmen to seize investment opportunities in local agriculture, asserting that domestic production can meet the needs of the population.
“Investing in our agricultural sector is not just beneficial for our economy; it is essential for securing our food supply and creating jobs,” he added.
