Mogadishu, (LM) Since taking office in 2022, Ali Ifiye Ali has been serving as the Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy in Somalia, championing sustainable practices and economic resilience within the sector.

Ali’s work has been centered around developing national policies and strategies that promote responsible fishing, enhance coastal community livelihoods, and protect marine ecosystems. He has also actively engaged with international partners to mobilize resources for capacity building and infrastructure development.

“In my role, I have focused on advancing sustainable fisheries, strengthening marine governance, and promoting the blue economy as a key driver of economic growth and environmental resilience,” stated Deputy Minister Ali.

Through a multi-stakeholder approach, key programs have been initiated to create jobs, improve fish value chains, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Somalia’s marine resources.
