Public Consultation Meeting on Constitutional Amendments Held in Mogadishu

The Deputy State Minister of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Ambassador Ilyas Sheikh Omar, officially opened a Public Consultation Meeting today focused on proposals for amendments to the Constitution, particularly concerning Chapters 5 to 9.

The meeting, organized collaboratively by the three agencies responsible for constitutional oversight, aimed to create a platform for citizens to voice their suggestions and opinions. Participants engaged in discussions related to research and data collection on the specified chapters, which were presented by the Independent Constitutional Review Commission.

During the session, attendees shared their insights and recommendations for amending these chapters. Representatives from the three agencies actively addressed the questions and concerns raised by the participants, fostering a constructive dialogue on the future of Somalia’s constitutional framework.

This initiative marks an important step in involving the public in the constitutional amendment process, ensuring that the voices of the Somali people are heard and considered.
