Somalia, Kenya, and Djibouti Discuss Cooperation on Terrorism, StrengtheningPeace, and Stability

Addis-Ababa (LM) Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held separate meetings with H.E. Ismail Omar Gelle, President of Djibouti, and H.E. William Ruto, President of Kenya, to discuss enhanced cooperation in the fight against terrorism, strengthening peace, and enhancing bilateral relations.

The meetings, which took place in Addis-Ababa, focused on collaborative efforts to combat terrorism, strengthen security frameworks, and foster stability across the Horn of Africa. Leaders underlined the importance of unity in addressing the challenges posed by extremist groups that threaten the region’s peace and security.

In his discussions with President Gelle, President Mohamud highlighted the critical role Djibouti plays in security initiatives and the need for continued collaboration to enhance intelligence sharing and military cooperation.

During the meeting with President Ruto, the leaders addressed mutual concerns regarding cross-border security and the impact of terrorism on trade and development. Both leaders agreed on the necessity of joint operations and strategic partnerships to safeguard their nations from emerging threats.

These discussions come at a pivotal time, as the Horn of Africa continues to face challenges related to insecurity and instability.
