Somali Deputy PM Attends International Action at COP30 Climate Change Conference

Mogadishu (LM) The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Salah Ahmed Jama, attended the COP30 climate change conference held in Belem, Brazil. He stressed the urgent need for international action to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Mr. Salah underlined that Somalia is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change, having experienced recurrent droughts, which are exacerbated by factors beyond air pollution.

He noted that Somalia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and Climate Adaptation Plan, which are part of the National Transitional Plan (NTP 2025–2029). This plan focuses on four key areas: adaptation, climate finance, loss and compensation, and the clean energy transition.

In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing the damages caused by climate change.
