What Can Be Learned from the President’s Visit to Las Anod?

Las Anod (LM) – The historic visit by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, after 40 years, to the city of Las Anod has become a significant political moment, widely seen as a turning point in Somalia’s political direction, security outlook, and national unity.
The visit, which was attended by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, cabinet ministers, members of parliament, political leaders, and an international delegation from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Kenya, and Djibouti, demonstrated a notable shift in how the Federal Government is engaging with the situation in northern Somalia.
