Al-Shabaab Significantly Weakened, Says Foreign Minister

Mogadishu (LM) The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi Ahmed, announced that the Al-Shabaab terrorist group has been significantly weakened due to two consecutive years of sustained military operations by the Somali National Army (SNA). He attributed this success to strategic efforts to disrupt the group’s financial networks and counter its extremist ideology.
Speaking at an event at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu, the Minister expressed strong support for the Somali National Army by donating a truckload of dry food rations as a gesture of solidarity. “The bravery of the Somali people in fighting the Kharijite ideology is commendable,” he stated, highlighting the importance of unity in the face of terrorism.
The Minister urged both politicians and the public to rally behind the national army, emphasizing that it is impossible for terrorist groups to control the country. “We must support our armed forces, who are the backbone of our nation’s security and sovereignty,” he added.
In his remarks, the Minister prayed for the martyrs, asking Allah to grant them Jannatul Ferdous, and wished a swift recovery for the injured. He underscored the armed forces’ dedication to justice and public safety, calling on all segments of society to provide unwavering support for their mission and sacrifices.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the collective effort required to combat extremism and ensure a secure future for Somalia.
