Former Speaker Calls for Unity and Action to Strengthen Somalia’s Statehood

Mogadishu (LM)- In a significant development for Somalia’s political landscape, former Speaker of the Somali Parliament, MP Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, addressed the agreements reached today concerning the country’s statehood.

During the press conference held in Mogadishu, “Indeed, today we have agreed on important points for statehood, which include aspects related to the structure of the government and matters concerning elections,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of this consensus, noting, “I believe that this understanding we have reached is significant.”

Abdirahman urged political parties to seize the moment: “I urge the political parties to take advantage of this opportunity.” He underscored the fundamental rights of the Somali people, asserting, “The Somali people have the right to have the power to choose their leaders.”

This statement follows a collaborative effort among key political figures to enhance governance and promote democratic processes in Somalia, marking a hopeful step toward a more stable and inclusive political environment.
