Strengthening Ties: President Hassan Sheikh’s Meeting with Djibouti’s Leader

Mogadishu (LM) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, engaged in a productive meeting at the Presidential Palace in Djibouti with the President of the Republic of Djibouti, Mr. Ismail Omar Guelleh.
The discussions centered around enhancing the strategic relationship between the two nations and their peoples. Both leaders emphasized the necessity of comprehensive cooperation, particularly in key areas such as security, counter-terrorism efforts, and supporting the stabilization process, along with rebuilding Somali governmental institutions.
A significant focus of the meeting was the humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing drought, particularly affecting the Awdal region. President Hassan Sheikh urged the Djibouti government to take an active role in providing aid and support to the Somali communities impacted by the drought.
Furthermore, the two Presidents exchanged insights on the overall situation in the Horn of Africa, highlighting the importance of close cooperation and continuous dialogue based on the mutual interests of both nations.
