Mogadishu, July 7, 2025 -(LM) The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), welcomed the Ambassador of Sudan to Somalia, Mr. Abdulrahman Khalil Afandi, at the Xamar Municipal Government House. The meeting aimed to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and explore potential cooperation opportunities between their capitals, Mogadishu and Khartoum.
During the discussions, the importance of sharing experiences was emphasized, particularly as both capitals face similar challenges that could lead to significant collaboration in reconstruction efforts and the development of essential infrastructure.
Governor Muungaab expressed the Somali people’s deep appreciation for Sudan and its citizens, highlighting their long-standing relationship. He extended his wishes for a swift recovery for the Sudanese people from the ongoing conflicts impacting their nation.
In response, Ambassador Afandi thanked the Mayor for the warm reception and provided an update on the status of the Sudanese community in Mogadishu. Mayor Muungaab assured him of his commitment to support initiatives related to the community’s integration and to facilitate the sharing of experiences between the Sudanese and Somali populations.
