Somali Government Allocates $500,000 for Drought Relief in Awdal Region, SODMA Urges

Mogadishu (LM) The Director of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Macalin Abdulle, has expressed his appreciation for the recent decision made by the Somali Cabinet to allocate $500,000 in aid for individuals affected by severe drought conditions in the Awdal region.
Mr. Abdulle stated that this funding will play a crucial role in providing immediate assistance to those struggling with the impacts of the drought, including access to food, water, and medical services. He emphasized the importance of timely support to mitigate the adverse effects of the ongoing crisis.
The allocation arrives at a critical time, as many communities in Awdal are facing significant challenges due to the lack of rainfall, resulting in crop failures and water shortages. The SoDMA is coordinating efforts with local organizations to ensure that the aid reaches those in need promptly.
Mr. Abdulle urged the international community to continue its support for Somalia as it navigates this challenging period, underlining the ongoing need for additional resources to address the humanitarian needs of affected populations.
As the situation develops, the Somali government remains committed to supporting its citizens and addressing the urgent needs created by the drought.
