Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Boly Diene Arrives in Mogadishu as New SRCC for Somalia

Mogadishu (LM) Today, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Boly Diene officially arrived in Mogadishu to assume his role as the new Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (#AUSSOM).

Upon his arrival at Aden Abdulle International Airport, Ambassador Diene was warmly welcomed by senior officials from both the Federal Government of Somalia and AUSSOM. Notable attendees included Ishaq Mahmoud Mursal, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Deputy SRCC Ambassador Mouktar Osman Karie; Force Commander Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma; Acting Police Commissioner ACP Samuel Osiedu Okanta; and Dr. Omar Alasow, Head of the Human Rights and Protection Division.

Following the reception, Ambassador Diene visited the AUSSOM Mission Headquarters, where he engaged in meetings with senior leadership and toured the mission’s facilities. His arrival marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to support stability and peace in Somalia, as he prepares to lead AUSSOM in its critical mission to enhance security and aid in the country’s development.
