President Hassan Sheikh Meets with His Egyptian Counterpart

Cairo, July 7, 2025 – LM, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, met today at the Al-Qalamayn Palace with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
During their discussions, the two leaders focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing strategic issues between their nations. President Al-Sisi announced the imminent reopening of the Egyptian embassy in Mogadishu, highlighting the significance of their cooperative relationship with Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended Egypt’s proactive support for Somalia in various sectors, including security, diplomacy, education, health, and military cooperation. Both leaders agreed to accelerate the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed in August 2024.
In his remarks, President Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Somali people and government, particularly in combating terrorism. He praised the Federal Government’s initiatives aimed at fostering unity, security, and overall development in the country.
President Hassan Sheikh emphasized Somalia’s commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with Egypt and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the Somali delegation.
