IGAD Deputy Executive Secretary Engages in Key Meetings at the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development

Mogadishu, 3 July 2025- Representing IGAD Executive Secretary H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Ware, the IGAD Deputy Executive Secretary, held important discussions on the sidelines of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development.

During the conference, H.E. Ware met with H.E. Ilyas Dawaleh, the Minister of Finance of Djibouti and Chair of IGAD, along with Dr. Nasser Alkahtani, Director General of the AGFUND Program. Their discussions focused on advancing the operationalization of the AGFUND Flagship Initiative in the IGAD region, which aims to support farmers by providing access to high-yielding seeds, credit facilities, and export markets.

Additionally, H.E. Ware participated in the side event titled “Food Security as a Pillar of Sustainable Development,” co-hosted by the AGFUND Program and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). This session brought together leaders from the Horn of Africa, Central America, and the Middle East, all reaffirming their commitment to strengthening food systems through collective action, financial support, and effective institutional frameworks.
