‘We Are All Lame: Somali Parliament Launches Campaign Against Speaker’s Unethical Statements

Mogadishu (LM) The Somali Parliament has initiated a campaign in response to the unethical and immoral statements made by Speaker Aden Madoobe during a recent parliamentary session. The backlash from Madoobe’s harsh speech has sparked a movement called “We Are All Lame,” demonstrating solidarity with MP Mohamed Ali Omar Ana-nuug.

In a show of support, members of Parliament were seen carrying Bakoors—traditional sticks used for support, as they visited MP Ano-Nug’s home to apologize for the statement that violated the rights of both a citizen and a fellow lawmaker.

The movement’s slogan, “All people are Lame,” signifies unity and collective strength among MPs as they rally behind their colleague. This gesture aims to address the grievances caused by the Speaker’s comments and reinforce the principles of respect and dignity within the parliamentary framework.

The campaign highlights the commitment of the Somali Parliament to uphold ethical standards and protect the rights of its members. As tensions rise, lawmakers are calling for accountability and a return to respectful discourse in order to foster a more inclusive and supportive legislative environment.
