The Governor of BRA and Mayor of Mogadishu Lays Foundation for Hospitals and Health Centers

Mogadishu, November 15, 2025 — The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Xasan Maxamed Xuseen (Muungaab), officially laid the foundation today for the rehabilitation and construction of 18 modern health facilities designed to enhance healthcare services for the residents of Mogadishu.

The Groundbreaking ceremony for this vital health initiative took place at the Waaberi Mother and Child Health Center (MCH) and was attended by key stakeholders from the health sector, including medical professionals, local leaders, and members of the community.

The ambitious health project, which consists of four major hospitals and 14 MCH clinics to be constructed across 11 districts of Mogadishu, aims to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to the city’s population at no cost. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving public health infrastructure and addressing the healthcare needs of underprivileged communities.

During the ceremony, Dr. Muungaab emphasized the importance of these facilities in reducing healthcare disparities and ensuring that every citizen has access to necessary medical services. He stated, “Today marks a significant step towards a healthier Mogadishu. Our goal is to create a robust healthcare system that caters to everyone, regardless of their socioeconomic status.”

The new health facilities will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical supplies and staffed by trained healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mothers, children, and individuals in need. This project is expected to play a crucial role in improving health outcomes in the region and promoting wellness among the populations served.

Dr. Muungaab concluded by expressing gratitude to all partners and stakeholders involved in the project and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to advancing healthcare improvements in Mogadishu.
