Mogadishu (LM) The Minister of Public Works of the Federal Government of Somalia, MP Dr. Elmi Mahamoud Nur, officially received his voter registration card today, marking a significant step in the country’s democratic process.
This action underlines the government’s commitment to advancing the electoral system, moving away from the previous clan-based power-sharing arrangement (4.5) towards a more inclusive system based on the people’s vote.
Minister Dr. Elmi Mahamud Nur emphasized that obtaining the voter registration card is a civic duty that every citizen must fulfill to participate in the upcoming elections. He urged the Somali population to actively engage in the registration process, ensuring they have the opportunity to choose their leaders in the forthcoming elections.
