Voter Registration Underway in 13 Districts of Banadir Region

Mogadishu (LM) The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission is actively conducting voter registration in 13 districts of the Banadir region in preparation for the upcoming one-person, one-vote elections.
Today, registration efforts expanded to include the districts of Kaaraan, Hodan, Warta Nabadda, Yaaqshiid, Heliwaa, and Hawlwadaag. These areas have reported a significant turnout at public registration centers, where citizens obtain their voting certificates.
Previously, voter registration had commenced in seven other districts within Banadir: Shangaani, Xamar Weyne, Shibis, Xamar Jajab, Boondheere, Waaberi, and Abdiazisis.
Community members expressed their excitement about the opportunity to elect their leaders for the first time. Registrants, including people with special needs and the elderly, actively participate, showcasing a strong commitment to exercising their citizenship rights and making their voices heard.
The ongoing registration process marks a significant step toward inclusive democratic participation in Somalia, as citizens prepare for a pivotal moment in the nation’s electoral history.
