The Speaker of Somali Parliament Meets with Chinese Ambassador to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Mogadishu (LM) The Speaker of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), welcomed the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, Ambassador Wang Yu, for a productive meeting in his office.

Ambassador Wang expressed gratitude to Speaker Madoobe for his efforts in strengthening relations between China and Somalia. He commended the Speaker’s leadership in the House and acknowledged the ongoing work on key legislation essential for the development of the Somali state.

During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador emphasized the deep-rooted relationship between China and Somalia, noting that the Chinese government’s approach in Somalia is distinct from that of other nations. He highlighted the long-standing ties that continue to flourish.

In response, Speaker Madoobe praised the historical relations between Somalia and China, affirming Somalia’s commitment to further enhancing these ties. He noted that the current trajectory of their relationship is positive and expressed a desire to strengthen parliamentary collaboration between the two nations.

Speaker Madoobe specifically highlighted the importance of accelerating cooperation between the parliaments, recognizing it as a crucial element in fostering stronger bilateral relations.

The meeting reflects the ongoing commitment of both nations to enhance cooperation in various sectors, paving the way for mutual development and progress.
