Somalia Engages in Crucial AUSSOM Meeting in Uganda

Kampala (LM), Somalia, is actively participating in a vital meeting focused on the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The delegation includes Minister of Defence Jabriil Abdirasaaq Haji Abdi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Mohamed Omar, Somalia’s Ambassador to Uganda Fardowsa Mohamed Qanyare, and other senior officials.
The meeting, which began at the technical level yesterday, has now progressed to the ministerial level, convening key ministers and officials from troop-contributing nations, including Uganda, Kenya, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Representatives from the African Union, European Union, and United Nations are also present, highlighting the international commitment to Somalia’s stability.
Key discussions are centered on enhancing support for the Federal Government of Somalia and optimizing the AUSSOM operation. The focus is on strategies that will strengthen military cooperation and improve overall effectiveness in combating ongoing security challenges.
As the meeting advances, participants are expected to reach significant agreements aimed at bolstering stability efforts in Somalia. The decisions made here will play a crucial role in shaping the future of AUSSOM and its mission to support Somalia’s quest for enduring peace and security.
