Baghdad (LM) The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Moallin Fiqi, held an official meeting today with his Iraqi counterpart, Mr. Thabit Mohamed Al-Abaasi, at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Iraq.
The meeting, attended by senior Iraqi officials, focused on enhancing bilateral relations and accelerating cooperation in security, defense, training, and the exchange of military expertise. Both ministers emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing shared security challenges.
Minister Al-Abaasi warmly welcomed the Somali delegation, expressing his commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two nations. In response, Minister Fiqi conveyed his gratitude for the invitation and reaffirmed the Federal Government of Somalia’s dedication to establishing a lasting, brotherly, and strategic partnership with Iraq.
This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening defense cooperation and mutual support between Somalia and Iraq.
