Somali President: Netanyahu’s actions are entirely unacceptable

Mogadishu (LM) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech to both Houses of the Federal Parliament, strongly condemning the aggression against the Somali government and people perpetrated by the Israeli Prime Minister, who has blatantly violated international laws and regulations.

The President stated that the Somali government and people are fully committed to defending their sovereignty and unity, emphasizing the importance of standing together at this time to counter the threats to our Somali existence, stability, and peace in the region.

“Netanyahu’s actions are entirely unacceptable and constitute a blatant assault on the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The northern regions of the Republic, known as Somaliland, are an inseparable part of Somalia. Our position will not change, and we warn against any attempts to divide the country.”

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud lauded the regional, Arab, African, and global support for reinforcing and defending the unity of the Republic of Somalia and reiterated the longstanding position of the Somali people and government in standing by the Palestinian brothers facing ongoing violations.

“Somalia will not allow its land to be used for wars and discord; we are prepared to take a visible role in fostering peace and stability both in the region and globally. We also fundamentally oppose the forced displacement of the Palestinian people.”

Finally, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia called on friendly countries, sister nations, and international organizations to support the Somali government and people in their diplomatic and legal efforts to defend their sovereignty, unity, and the existence of the Somali nation.
