Somali Ambassador Attends Regional Unity at EAC Council of Ministers’ Meeting

Arusha (LM) The Somali Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC) participated in the 47th East African Community Council of Ministers’ Meeting held in Arusha. In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the significant progress made by the EAC and reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to the organization’s goals.
During the meeting, the Ambassador urged EAC member states to adhere to all provisions of the EAC Common Market Agreement, particularly emphasizing the need for a visa waiver for EAC citizens. He called for the lifting of visa restrictions and travel barriers that Somali citizens currently face, asserting that these measures are essential for promoting equality and unity within the region.
“The provisions discussed are fundamental to enhancing free movement, regional development, and inclusive growth for all citizens of East Africa,” the Ambassador stated.
The meeting served as a platform for member states to address ongoing challenges and collaborate on strategies to strengthen regional integration. Somalia’s active participation underscores its commitment to fostering unity and cooperation within the East African community.
