SoDMA Commissioner Meets Norwegian Foreign Ministry Representative to Discuss Humanitarian Cooperation

Mogadishu (LM) In a significant meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, Mr. Mahmoud Macallin Abdulle, Commissioner of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), met with Ms. Merete Dyrud, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry representative to Somalia.

The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation in humanitarian assistance and community development efforts in Somalia. Ms. Dyrud reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s initiatives in addressing disasters and humanitarian challenges, stating, “We are dedicated to increasing our assistance, particularly for emergency relief services and the development of vulnerable communities.”

Mr. Abdulle expressed his gratitude for Norway’s sustained strategic support, noting that it is vital for enhancing Somalia’s capacity to respond effectively to disasters and aiding in community recovery efforts. “Norway’s assistance is crucial for building resilience within our communities,” he remarked.

The meeting concluded with both parties expressing a strong commitment to collaborate closely on humanitarian issues and the overall development of the Somali community, highlighting the importance of ongoing partnership in these critical areas.
