Second Deputy PM says Obtaining a National ID is a Constitutional right

Mogadishu (LM) The Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Jibriil Abdirashid Haji Abdi, emphasized that obtaining a National Identity Card is a constitutional right that enables citizens to access essential jobs and services.
During the inauguration of the digital infrastructure service of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Mr. Abdi stated, “A National Identity Card is crucial for every citizen. It not only affirms their identity but also facilitates access to opportunities and services vital for their livelihoods.”
The newly launched digital service aims to streamline the process of obtaining a National Identity Card, ensuring that it is secure and efficient. Mr. Abdi highlighted the importance of this initiative in enhancing national identity and improving governance.
“This process will make it easier for citizens to acquire their identity cards, empowering them to participate fully in society,” he added.
The launch of the digital infrastructure is a significant step towards modernizing the identification system in Somalia, aiming to foster a more inclusive and accessible environment for all citizens.
