Saudi Arabia Approves Security Cooperation Agreement with Somalia’s NISA

Riyad (LM) The Saudi Arabian government has officially approved a security cooperation agreement with the National Intelligence Service (NISA) of Somalia to jointly combat terrorism and its financing. The approval took place during a cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah on Tuesday, May 20.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the Saudi Presidential Security Department and NISA, strengthening security ties between the two countries. During the meeting, the Saudi Cabinet emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement in supporting Somalia’s fight against Al-Shabaab and ISIS, both of which pose major threats to regional stability.

The move follows a defense agreement signed last week by the Somali and Saudi defense ministries, reflecting the growing security and diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Regional security analysts have described these agreements as a strategic partnership that enhances the capabilities of both countries in combating terrorism, while also contributing to broader regional and global security efforts.

These agreements are viewed as part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen bilateral relations, as Somalia continues to seek international support to tackle extremist groups operating within its borders.
