New York, September 23, 2025 – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accompanied by Somalia’s delegation to the United Nations, participated in an international conference in New York focused on the recognition of Palestinian statehood and the affirmation of their historical rights.
The Federal Government of Somalia reiterated its longstanding position of supporting the people and government of Palestine, being one of the first countries to recognize Palestinian statehood and consistently demonstrating support for efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state.
Additionally, the Federal Government of Somalia encourages countries that have made the historic decision regarding the recognition of the State of Palestine, which strengthens regional stability and peace while affirming the historical rights of the Palestinian people.
