Minister Ali Hosh Opens Annual Meeting of Civil Registration Committee

Mogadishu (LM) The Annual Meeting of the Civil Registration and Civil Status Steering Committee was officially opened today by MP Ali Yusuf Ali-Xoosh, the Chairman of the committee and Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation.

In his address, Minister Ali Xoosh highlighted the significant progress made by the committee since its establishment. He stated, “During the period in which this committee has been operating, good progress has been made in developing policies, laws, strategies, and plans to manage the civil registration service, most of which have been approved by this committee.”

The Minister emphasized the successful implementation of a digital service that streamlines the delivery of birth and death registration services. “The first phase of this digital initiative has been rolled out in 19 districts across the country’s federal states,” he noted, underscoring the importance of modernizing civil registration processes.

The meeting aims to review the committee’s achievements, address ongoing challenges, and plan future initiatives to enhance civil registration services throughout Somalia. The Minister’s remarks reflect a commitment to improving governance and ensuring that all citizens have access to essential civil services.
