Dr. Aadan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan Elected as Speaker of Northern East State Parliament
Las’anod, August 23, 2025 (LM) In a significant development for the Northern East State of Somalia, members of the regional parliament have elected Dr. Aadan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan as the new Speaker. The election results saw Dr. Aadan receiving 53 votes, while his opponent, Abdiqafar, garnered 29 votes, with one vote deemed invalid.
Upon his election, Dr. Aadan expressed gratitude and optimism about his new role. “I am deeply honored to serve as the Speaker of the Northern East State Parliament,” he stated. “This is not just a victory for me, but for all the people of our region. Together, we will work towards progress and unity.”
