Deputy SRCC Ambassador and NSA Discuss Security and Somali Police Support

Mogadishu (LM) The deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC), Amb. Mouktar Osman Karie met with Ambassador Aweys Haji Yusuf, the National Security Adviser of Somalia.

The discussions centered on the current security situation in Somalia, the funding and staffing of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and an upcoming project aimed at supporting the Somali Police Force.

Ambassador Karie stated, “Our dialogue today underlines the urgent need for collaborative efforts in addressing the security challenges facing Somalia. AUSSOM is committed to providing the necessary support to enhance the capacity of the Somali Police Force.”

Ambassador Yusuf stressed the importance of this partnership, remarking, “Strengthening the Somali Police is crucial for maintaining peace and security in the country. We are grateful for AUSSOM’s continued support and are dedicated to working together to ensure a safer environment for our citizens.”

This meeting was a follow-up to the discussions held on November 4th between the SRCC and the NSA, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Somali-led peace and security process. The two ambassadors expressed their mutual dedication to enhancing cooperation in implementing AUSSOM’s mandate.
